In honour of International Women's Week, my daughter and I would like to support an organization that helps girls and young women. This week, we are collecting loonies, toonies, $15 or $50 donations for FreeSchools World Literacy (www.freeschools.org), a Canadian charity with new partners in Australia and the USA, that operates 80 schools in India and Thailand.
FreeSchools work cooperatively using a model that invests mainly in teachers and learning materials, borrows existing space, and makes literacy possible for thousands of children, especially girls, who would otherwise be deprived of education.
FreeSchools offer a quality 5-year primary education that includes reading, writing, arithmetic, health/hygiene and civics. Just $15 can send a child to a FreeSchool in India for an entire year!
